Broiled Black Cod with young ginger
Our final dish of the evening (which we also ordered seconds of) was simple and delicious. The black cod, also known as sable, was simply seasoned and broiled. The flesh was light and meaty, the skin crispy and the flavor was great. A wonderful balance of salt and sweet, highlighting the natural flavor of the fish, enhancing it slightly with Chef Masa’s subtle technique. The young ginger (the carrot looking thing on the plate) was a pleasant suprise. Sharp and bitter, like fresh ginger, with a spicy ginger flavor, a bite of that before eating the lucious fish was a perfect flavor mouth combination.
